Can & Bottle Drive
This is just a reminder that we are still accepting empty deposit bottles and cans. You may leave your can and bottle donations behind the front gate at our shelter property. Our volunteers will pick them up weekly and redeem them; all funds raised go directly to ARF! This is also a great way to help the environment. In past years, we've raised enough money through our bottle drive to pay for a full month of veterinary care! We really appreciate everyone who takes the time to save and drop off these donations.

If you work in a large building or office, please ask your co-workers to save their cans and bottles for us!

"Blessings All Around" - ARF Family Reunion Recap

ARF held its first annual Family Reunion on June 27, 2009. Over sixty ARF alumni came to the event with their new owners. Rev. Zack blessed all our former ARF cats and dogs and graced our shelter with his presence, words, and prayers throughout the day.

The day was filled with fun, hugs, tears, and lots of petting as we gave thanks to all the animals that were saved on November 23, 2008 when our shelter caught fire. We were blessed that no one was harmed that day and what could have been a horrible disaster, turned into a blessing in disguise. With the purchase of the land complete, we are now able to rebuild the shelter in the community we know and love.

The land at 366 Main Street in Terryville is full of ARF history and memories. ARF animals such as Kelsey, Lucy Rose, and Buddy will be remembered with great love at their home. Special volunteers who are no longer with us: Bob Tartaglia, Charles Corr, Ellen Hackett, Cricket Zabit, and most recently Dave Thompson and Larry Palmieri will also be remembered on the property that meant so much to them during their lives. 366 Main Street is not merely an address but a home. A home is made up of family, that is what we are...one big ARF family.

We at ARF work as a team to save the animals and raise the money we need to do so. No organization can be truly efficient and at it's best without a seamless effort from all it's volunteers; ARF is achieving it's goals because of this team effort that has been in place. Let's hope that our next blessing is utilizing our team to save even more animals, create more awareness about animal abuse, and let ARF be the friendly, open shelter it is and will continue to be. After all, our next generation of ARF alumni are counting on us!

Thank you to Can-It of Wolcott, Rent-A-Tent of Wolcott, The Print Shop of Wolcott, Rev. Zack of the Terryville Congregational Church, and all our ARF adopters, supporters, and volunteers.
